We have been introducing ‘green’ initiatives at the Manor House for a number of years, first winning recognition of our efforts in 2004.
In 2008, we decided to formalise our approach to all things ‘green’ by committing to the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS). This actually goes far beyond the obvious improvements of using less energy and reducing waste. GTBS looks at how we operate within our community, how we act as a business and also, of course, it sets high standards for environmental matters. Following an independent assessment, we were granted a silver award in July 2009.
In 2008, we also entered the Tourism South East Tourism ExSEllence Awards, and were judged against our peers across the industry. Our achievements were recognised when we won a Highly Commended award in the Sustainable Tourism category.
