Built in the late 19th century, the Manor House has had an interesting history.
Bought by its sister business, Quest Worldwide Consulting, in 1993, the Manor House immediately underwent a refurbishment to make it habitable and one of the larger meeting rooms was soon in use as an office for the Quest team.
The next phase of work saw the upstairs bedrooms created, allowing Quest clients to use the Manor House for residential workshops. This was quickly followed by the construction of an innovative and award-winning “underground” wing of bedrooms and the gym which opened in January 2000.
Today, the Manor House goes from strength to strength and investment in the building continues. Most recently has been the opening up of previously unused portions of the basement and the dramatic redevelopment of the bar area on the ground floor.
At some time around 1890, Charles Hampton Weeks, a master at Charterhouse School (situated just across the road from us) built the Manor House for himself and his family. In 1906, the house was passed to the Crisp family.
In the latter part of WW2, the pre-clinical students of St.Thomas Hospital Medical School were evacuated to the Manor House from London.
In the early 1970's, it was agreed that the University of Surrey should take over the Manor House as a hall of residence. The annual beer festival was legendary in the University and amongst the local community!
Later and until its purchase by Quest, a group of small businesses occupied the building, taking advantage of the space available by dividing the upper two floors into offices.
